Server Maintenance 

  • Archive all the good examples of student work that you want to use during your orientation to inspire students next year. Put these examples of student work in a safe place where you can show it to students.  The Media Library has a folder for Sample Learner Work.
  • Identify graduating students or students who have moved away who will never be back in your SmartLab. You can delete their "Learner" folder from the server as well as Active Directory.
  • Power off the server.
  • *Do not update the server Windows Version.*
  • Take pictures to note how all cables are connected. 
  • Unplug any connection between the desk and the wall if Facilities will be cleaning your room and need to move the desk. 
  • Use the Help option at the bottom of the screen to send an email with any questions to support. 

Windows PC Maintenance 

  • *Do not update to Windows Version 1903*
  • Remember to thaw the computers in Deep Freeze before completing any updates necessary.
  • Complete any Windows Updates that are available.
  • Update all applications that are used.  Most often there is a help option in the top menu of the software which will lead to an option to check for updates.
  • Take pictures to note how all cables are connected. 
  • Power off all computers.
  • If you have peninsulas, unplug any connection between the desk and the wall in case Facilities will be cleaning the room.
  • Use the Help option at the bottom of the screen to send an email with any questions to support. 

Mac and iPad Maintenance 

  • *Do not update to Mojave.*
  • You can complete any High Sierra Update needed for Mac computers.
  • Update all applications that are used.  Most often there is a check for updates option listed under the program name in the top left of the screen.
  • Check the App Store for any updates on the iPads.  If you need the Apple ID/password, please reach out to support.
  • Power off all computers.
  • Power off all iPads and store them safely in the Copernicus tub.
  • Take pictures to note how all cables are connected.
  • If you have peninsulas, unplug any connection between the desk and the wall in case Facilities will be cleaning the room.
  • Use the Help option at the bottom of the screen to send an email with any questions to support. 

Kit and Room Maintenance 

  • Note all kits that are available in your room.
  • Contact support if you have any missing or broken pieces.  Creative Learning Systems carries a one-year warranty on the kits but can advise on how to replace outside the year.
  • Kit sheets are available under the Facilitator Resources section of the Learning Launchers.  Kit sheets offer a list of materials, pictures and organizational tips. 
  • Take pictures to note where all the kits belong.
  • Be sure to lock up any high valuable equipment such as cameras, the SCRS kit, any CD versions of software, etc.
